It’s been a while since we reviewed the original Angry Birds. But after all these months, Angry Birds is still the number one game on the iPhone, selling nearly 7 million copies.

The popularity of Angry Birds is due to its fun game play, crisp graphics and challenging levels. Making this game very addictive for anyone of all ages. The simple controls and auto-save feature also make Angry Birds a great game to play when you’re on the go.
Even after the split of Chillingo and Rovio, that hasn’t stopped the developers releasing their own Angry Birds Seasons version. What originally began with just a special Halloween edition has now also extended to a new special Christmas pack.

The Christmas pack is in a form of an advent calendar, with 25 boxes – one for each day of December leading up to Christmas. Instead of revealing small gifts and sweets each day, every box reveals a new level as you count down to Christmas.
The downside to the Christmas pack is that you can’t just unlock every level in one go. Instead, one level is unlocked every day and you can download it over Wi-Fi or 3G. Not so great when you don’t have access to an internet connection. On the bright side, once you’ve unlocked a few levels, you don’t need to have completed the previous levels in order to the play new ones.

If you’re an Angry Birds addict and can’t wait for a new level every day, then you’d like the Halloween pack much more. Halloween might be over, but this novelty pack features over 45 new levels, which you’re more than welcome to advance through in a day if you wish.
Nothing has really changed with the Angry Birds Seasons edition and there are no new characters or gameplay. Of course, there are some graphic and aesthetic additions to the two packs. For example, darker theme and pumpkins for Halloween and snow building blocks and presents in the Christmas pack.

The Halloween pack starts off pretty easy while progressing slowly becoming more challenging as you progress through the levels. However, the Christmas pack immediately throws you in the deep end from day 1.
Although everything essentially remains the same, Angry Birds Seasons is still worth the download if you’re a fan of the game and if you want to get your hands on more levels with a hint of novelty. However, if you’re looking for complete new innovation to the game, then best to leave this one alone.

Pros: Fun novelty additions to the game and more levels.
Cons: Nothing new, gameplay and characters essentially remain the same.
